Door Chimes and Proximity Sensors

The number one thing that you can do make sure that your office is safe is by installing a notification system. These notifications will alert you when someone walks into your office – either your individual office itself or the building (ideally both). You have your choice of door chimes, which go off when the door is opened, or proximity sensors, which chime or “ding” when someone walks to a specific spot in your office.


Smart Locks
















Smart locks are quite useful. Many of them are designed to work in tandem with a traditional locking system, so you’ll have one of each on the door. Others include just the smart locks. You can choose ones that require a thumbprint or some other sort of metrics, as well as some that connect to your smartphone. The latter type unlocks when your phone is in a certain range. However, you don’t always need to confine them to the door itself. You can place a keypad lock on your office safe, or even add one to your desktop so that no one can access your computer without the proper key. In fact, there’s no rule that you can only have one keypad per office. You can install more than one. (Just make sure to hook them up to your control panel system).


Window Alarms

If you’re worried about someone breaking into your office when you aren’t there, then you need to have some window alarms installed. These alarms are designed to go off when someone tries to open the window. You can have them connected to your overall security system, which will then alert the authorities when the sensors go off. There are two main alarm options here – silent alarms and audible alarms. Whichever one you choose is up to you.



The idea to add security cameras to your office seems obvious, but it must be included here. They are certainly a commercial security device that can help deter theft, as well as pick up the images of anyone who breaks into your space. Plus, these digital cameras are fairly small and very easy to set up. No one needs to know that you have them.


A Control Panel System

If you plan on overhauling your office’s security, then you’re going to need to use a control panel. These panels attach to your current electrical grid and connect all of the devices that you either have installed or are planning to install. Plus, if something malfunctions and you need to override it, then you can use the control panel to do so. They have more than one use this way.


Smart Home Systems

Yes, things like Amazon’s Alexa are considered to be “smart home systems,” which implies that are only designed to be installed in your home. This isn’t true at all. You can have them in your office as well. Nothing will help you alert the authorities like programming Alexa with a code word that lets them know what to do. In this way, those smart home systems might just help you save your own life.


Smoke Detectors

Yes, smoke detectors might not seem like much of a commercial security device, but they are if you think about it. After all, there are multiple types of security at play here, and you need to know early on should your office catch fire.


Fire Alarm Panel

A robust fire alam panel will allow your entire office to be ready for any fire related emergency through a coordinate system of smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, loudspeaker systems, and an automatic update to the nearest fire station or emergency services. 


As you can see, all eight of these things can add an extra layer of security to your office space. You need to consider incorporating at least one or two them in order to ensure that your office is as safe as possible. Your security shouldn’t be at risk, no matter where you work.
