The past few years have seen an explosion in affordable, smart home devices designed to make our daily life more convenient. But did you know that smart home devices like Alexa can also help to protect your home from burglars and intruders? By working with your existing home security system, Alexa can provide an extra layer of protection for your family?

With a smart home security system, you can take advantage of a wide range of features that help to keep your home safe from intruders. These include motion sensors that detect movement in your home and alert you immediately when a door or window has been opened, live camera feeds that let you keep an eye on your property 24/7, and even smart locks that prevent anyone from entering your home without your permission. Alexa can be integrated with many of these smart home security features to provide an extra level of protection for your home. For example, you can program Alexa to turn on the lights when the motion sensors detect movement in your home, or you can have her send a notification to your phone if the doorbell camera detects a person approaching your front door.

You can even set up a “geofence” around your property so that Alexa will automatically turn on the lights and security system when you leave the house, and turn them off when you come back home. This is a great way to keep your home safe when you’re on a trip or a busy workday, without having to constantly monitor a security system yourself. So if you’re looking for a smart home device that can help protect your family and your home, consider investing in a smart home security system that works with Alexa. With its many convenient features and a host of powerful security capabilities, Alexa can help you rest easy knowing that your home is safe and secure.

Here's how you can link Alexa to your home security system.

Step 1:

Download the Alexa App on your tablet or smartphone. Once the app has been installed and you've logged into your account, navigate to the 'Add Device' section and link the app to your device. With the link complete, you can now proceed to set up other functions such as voice commands or more importantly, start to link Alexa with other smart devices throughout your home.

Step 2:

To link Alexa with a home security system, you'll first need a compatible device. For a list of compatible devices, visit the Amazon website (www.amazon.com). Select the 'Devices' tab at the top of the page and then select the 'Security & Surveillance' category from the drop-down menu.

Step 3:

Now that you have a compatible device, it's time to start linking it with Alexa. To do this, open the Alexa App and select the 'Smart Home' option from the main menu. Select the 'Devices' tab and then press the '+ Add Device' button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 4:

With the 'Add Device' menu open, select the 'Security & Surveillance' category. Here you'll be able to select your home security system from a list of compatible devices. Once you've selected your device, press the 'Enable Skill' button and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the link.

Step 5:

Now that your home security system is linked with Alexa, you can start using voice commands to control it. Try saying things like, "Alexa, show me the front door camera" or "Alexa, turn on the alarm." For a full list of compatible commands, visit the Amazon website. And with a smart home security system linked to Alexa, you can rest easy knowing that your home will be protected from burglars and intruders.
